Shigeru Ban

Born in Tokyo in 1957, Shigeru Ban attended Southern California Institute of Architecture and Cooper Union School of Architecture, graduating in 1984 while working for Arata Isozaki. In 1985 he opened his own practice in Tokyo and began an intense designing, teaching and scientific career. Ban’s architecture is known the world over for its innovative uses of such humble materials as bamboo and paper. He is the winner of the 2014 Pritzker Prize.
