Matthew Prince
Matt Prince (b. 1983) is a graduate of the Australian School of Fine Furniture. After successfully completing a number of high profile projects, including the fabrication and installation of the Ceremonial Sweet in the Sydney Federal Courts, Matt returned to University and was one of the first graduates of the newly offered Bachelor degree in Furniture Design from the University of Tasmania’s School of Architecture and Design in 2010.
In 2011 Matt Prince Design was launched, a design consultancy aimed at developing furniture products for large-scale production in addition to bespoke commissions for private client.
As a qualified designer and maker, Matt has a strong understanding of material and process enabling him to work closely with manufacturers. For Matt, an appreciation and knowledge of the making process provide an invaluable recourse when developing new products.
Matt Prince is currently based in Launceston where he lecturers in Furniture Technology at the University of Tasmania and is a practicing designer, developing furniture solutions that focus on the need and desires of the end user.
