Vico Magistretti

Vico Magistretti (Milan 1920 – Milan 2006) architect and designer, was a representative of Milanese rationalism. He graduated in architecture in 1945 and immediately joined his father’s firm. Straight after the war he became actively involved in the reconstruction projects. He actively took part in various Triennials, taking care of numerous sections. His many architectural works show his great attention to the problems of prefabrications and the urban layout. Active in the design field, he was among the founders of the Industrial Design Association in 1956, and many of his creations of lamps, chairs, tables etc. have enriched the history of design. A Member of the Academy of San Luca in Roma and the Royal College of Art in London, he has won many prizes both in Italy and abroad.
